I have been planning this shot for awhile. If you look at my post from Aug 2nd with a picture of the full moon it states there is a story to be told... at a later date. What I hoped to photograph was another picture of the moon tonight. The second full moon in a calandar month. What is know as a blue moon.
It is a rare occasion. Two full moons in one month. It happens about every 2.7 years and the information I read today states that the next blue moon will not happen again for 3 years. It is where the expression"Once in a blue moon." came from.
Little did I know that the first man to walk on the surface of the moon would pass away and be buried today. Opportunity to walk on the moon, not alone the first one to do it. An opportunity that comes along very rarely in ones lifetime. Once in a Blue Moon you might say. Coincidence maybe, but for some reason I think there was a connection between the two of them.
I wonder how it would be to look up at the moon and know that you were one of the few to ever step on it's surface.
I remember the moment. My school teacher had turned on the TV and our world stood still as we all stopped whatever we were doing to watch. But, to actually have been the one to mark that moment in history... Once in a Blue Moon does someone get a moment like that.
Neil, This one is for you. R.I.P. Thank you ; )
