There has been a woodpecker that visits my yard every year for the past 3 years. At first I didn't know what the strange tapping sound was. Didn't know we even had wood peckers in Utah.
When I realized it was a woodpecker, I was so excited.
Last year I tried to get some pictures with my little point and shoot but he is very elusive.
This year he has been visiting the feeder I put up, and with my new camera I caught a couple pictures of him today. I am hoping to eventually get some better shots but I was happy to get this one for now. This is a male woodpecker. You can't see it very well in the photo, but he has a little red dot on top of his head.
