I went out to check on my flowers today.  Cut down my ferns and cut back my iris'.  Kind of a bittersweet time for me.  I have enjoyed my garden this year but summer is winding down.  And if I wait too long to get started then It seems to sneak up on me and before you know it I am overhelmed trying to get everything done in preperation for the winter.   I am going to wait a little while longer before taking on the task of my cutting down my sunflowers.  But this spent flower is a reminder that it will not be much longer.
